The company that is not unknown to controversy is stirring the pot once again. Their new advertising idea for their ” Hell Cross Buns” has churches in a uproar. The slogan that is appearing on billboards states “For a limited time. A bit like Jesus.”
Instead of a Christian Cross it bears an inverted pentagram, which many attribute to Satanism. Fact is the inverted Pentegram is a symbol that has been used within many cultures and beliefs throughout time. You can read more about that here Pentagram info.
The Director of the company, Warren Powell states, “We may bring them back next year, and everyone’s saying that Jesus Christ is coming back one day,”
Hell Pizza, which operates outlets around New Zealand as well as a handful of stores in London, is no stranger to controversy.
In 2008 the firm was forced to apologise to the family of the late Sir Edmund Hillary after a Hallowe’en advertisement featured the skeletal remains of the Everest conqueror, along with those of the Queen Mother and the actor Heath Ledger, dancing on gravestones.
