More LGBT abuse, this time in New York

The New York Police Department arrested seven men who were members of a street gang called the “Latin King Goonies” this past week. Apparently, when members of the LKG found out that one of their recruits was gay, they attacked, beat, and sexually tortured him. The seventeen year old recruit went to the hospital once they finally released him, but lied and said his injuries were the result of a robbery.

The story gets even more horrifying. On the same day as the seventeen year old recruits attack, a second teenager was beaten and robbed at the same location, and forced to tie another man up to a chair and burn him with cigarettes. They then forced the man who had been tied up to drink a large amount of alcohol and then sodomized him with a small baseball bat, all because they (the LKG) suspected the man had “hooked up” with the seventeen year old recruit. After a few hours of this torture, the LKG dropped the man off at the home of his brother, and also robbed his brother in the process. These types of anti-LGBT hate crimes are disgusting and inexcusable. This is just another frightening example, along with the recent suicides in the news, of just how bad LGBT rights are in the United States. It is becoming more and more clear that something needs to be done. Drastic measures need to be taken. In a country that is supposedly all about freedom, too many people are truly not free. Freedom should encompass all aspects of life, yes, that means the freedom to be gay without persecution.
Wake up Obama! Take a real close look at the country you are leading, and do something about this! Forget about your bailouts and tax breaks for those that don’t need them, and save your citizens! Be a true leader instead of a deaf, blind follower.
